KL Foundation To Criminalise War Condemns Israeli Aggression
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Foundation To Criminalise War has called on the international community to immediately act in concert to call upon Israel to stop the bombing of Gaza and the slaughter of innocent lives.
Its chairman, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said in a statement Wednesday the foundation also called upon the governments of the United States, Britain and other major powers to put necessary pressure on Tel Aviv to stop the inhuman slaughter of Palestinian men, women and children in Gaza with bombs and other weapons.
He said it supported the United Nations' call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to all military operations to facilitate relief work and delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
"Our hearts go to the people of Gaza in this time of great distress," he said.
Dr Mahathir said the foundation was shocked and angered over the Israeli invasion of Gaza last Saturday that has resulted in the deaths of more than 300 Palestinian men, women and children.
Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional Youth is to organise a peaceful gathering at 2.30pm on Friday at the Palestine embassy in Jalan Ampang here as a show of support for the Palestinian people who have fallen prey to the brutality of the Zionist regime.
BN Youth secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) were also expected to participate in the gathering which would protest the Israeli aggression.
"The protest represents the voice of the Malaysian people against crime and war and their love for peace, particularly in the issue of the brutal killing of civilians by the Zionist regime in Palestine," he said in a statement.
He also said that a donation campaign had been launched to garner aid for the suffering Palestinian people and that the RM100,000 collected so far would be handed over to Palestine's ambassador to Malaysia, Abdelaziz Aboughosh.
